Our first BUMP!!!

International adoption is not the easiest thing by far. There is sooooo much red tape that you have to go through and nothing is under your control. They say "jump" we say "how high!".

So I just got off the phone with the women from our agency and we have a major problem that could stop the whole thing. I am trying to remain very calm.

The women from our agency wrote our homestudy for us. She is able to do so. When the SDA (Adoption Agency in the Ukriane) looked at our paperwork today, they decided that she needs to write a seperate letter (in addition to the VERY FIRST sentence of our homestudy!) that states she is able to do our homestudy.

What this means is that
1) She had to write a small letter re: the homestudy.
2) she had to get it notarized
3) she had to get is apostilled
4) she has to get it to the Ukraine ASAP!

After going back and fourth with Fedx we have decided that it is our best interest to send it on a Delta flight that leaves GA today to Newark and them from Newark tomorrow to the Ukraine. The SDA has given us until Thursday to get this done. Sounds easier said then done. Delta says that it will get it there Thursday, but not sure as to the time. Our facilitator in the Ukraine is going to sit and wait at the airport in Kiev for it. Then bring it to the SDA. We hope in the nick-of-time!

What happens if the paper doesn't make it in time you ask. It's done. We would have to start from scratch again. Wait another year for the very important "paperwork review date", spend more money.......we just don't think we can do it.

So we need prayers and lots of them.....please.
